The Kosovo Commission's Association Board has asked the Ministry of Finance, Transfers and Labor that the decision to re-evaluate property is suspended and that citizens pay the value of property tax in 2023 as they paid in 2022.
The AKK has also objected to increased property tax, as in their opinion municipalities have no role in re-evaluating property, nor in raising property tax bills for citizens.
Among other things, they have listed reasons for suspending these decisions.
The difficult economic circumstances for the citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, the inflation rate is two-sifre, the expensive prices of basic products and other products, the level of uncontinented wages for years, the direct impact on the weighting of the citizen basket, the re-evaluation of property from MFTP has contributed to the tax receipts of property having a very high cost, and the high increase of the tax bill on property in heavy economic circumstances would make it difficult to invest from tax to body at<6).
The board also wants to have real meetings and consultations with municipalities so that better ways of re-evaluating property can be found.
On the other hand, they suggest that municipalities cannot pardon property tax because it is not the competence of municipalities, rather we ask the MFTP to create legal infrastructure where the municipalities will allow forgiveness of property tax based on the decisions of the Communist Assembly.
The AKK's “Bord requires that the new draft Law on Property Tax be processed as soon as possible for approval in the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo” is said in the statement.
