Within the Institute of Legal Medicine professionals and staff in general are facing increased work volumes and difficulties in realising them.
The sense of work within cold spaces where autopsies of lifeless bodies are performed remain in second place for workers of the Law Medicine Institute. A few quarts of this field in Kosovo have been translated into cargo for the current staff.
The situation has become even worse after samples disappeared in the Astrit Dehari case last year, where some officials resigned and others suspended.
You know, the case we've had with some employees has been suspended and we've been stuck in the toxicology lab. There have been four suspended employees, only one has returned to work, and three others are awaiting the disciplinary commission's decision. Now we're only running emergencies because we can't work all the time”, says Ditor Haliti, deputy director of the IML.
Toxicology lab is almost out of place. It's just technically worked.
This is where only technically works. They take samples and they get fixed, they're stored but they don't process tests. SUGUGUGS, says Musa Gashi, from the IML.
We are currently conducting only emergency cases because we cannot work all the time”, says Ditor Haliti.
The deputy minister of justice, Blerim Sacha, has also spoken of this situation in RTK. He said Kosovo has few legal doctors and toxicology labs, which make it difficult within the IML.
