Krasniqi: In final agreement and Association, application for current EU candidate status show

The Franco-German proposal for normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia, Democratic Party of Kosovo leader Memli Krasniqi, is assessing that it does not meet Kosovo's state objectives.

Krasniqi said Kosovo should not accept even an agreement which has no mutual recognition within it, after which, any other agreement would not bring peace to the two countries.

He added that as a party they have proposed to the Parliament and Government the five pillars that must have the final agreement.

“We hope there will be a push ahead, even though a year and a half last, almost two years of government Kurti haven't marked a process in dialogue, but we've just moved from crisis to crisis. Despite the fact that the first version I have read, of the Franco-German proposal, does not meet Kosovo's state objectives. We have demanded that the prime minister and the government seriously engage in this process in order to make the best of it, but not give up the state targets we have”.

Whatever agreement you do not foresee and achieve mutual recognition is an agreement that does not end the conflict with Kosovo and Serbia, and it is an agreement which, as the people say, does not work. Krasniqi also said that the founding of the Serb majority municipalities will be included in the final agreement.

However the Franco-German document as a proposal is a document that is most based on values, does not speak concretely for deadlines and actions that should take two sides, and therefore neither does the name association figure there, the truth is that in the first version, this document has transformed access from the accord with recognition at the center agreement, so I believe that the agreement as such involves the creation of association however, said.

Krasniqi also spoke in this interview about Kosovo's application for EU candidate status.

He explained that despite Kosovo's path since its founding it has been the way towards European integration, this has not been the right time for application.

This, according to him, has become more like a current spectacle and that this application does not bring any favour to Kosovo.

Also in the field, meeting citizens directly to be not only close to them but more to learn from them to get a clear picture of what their difficulties and demands are expecting from us”, he added.

He said they have also worked towards the 50-50 agenda aimed at gender equality at any level of decision-making and organisation within the party.

“We have had a highly digitised election innovation process within Kosovo's Democratic Youth, which now more than half the branches are complete and what I highly estimate is the large number of young people who have joined the platform. There are a growing number of girls, women who are not only participating, but are also competing and winning to lead the RDK branches”.

Another project that has been one of my priorities has been full-fledged accession to the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats of Europe, where we have taken the confidence of over 70 parties as sisters across Europe. We've organized a certain number of branches that in the last local elections have had a performance mother. We have also advanced in bringing in new potential potentials that have joined the PDK, which made me sure that the year 2023 will be even more dynamic, more intense and more tangible successes for our party”, he said.
