Israeli police described the attack in the Jewish neighbourhood as a “terrorist suspect”.
Police said the gunman in Saturday's attack was a 13-year-old boy.
They said it was “neutrified”, but did not give more details.
The shooting in the Jewish neighbourhood of Neve Yaʹakov followed a deadly attack by the Israeli army that took place on January 26th in the West Coast. The raid on a refugee camp in Yeen turned into a shootout in which at least nine Palestinians were killed, while a tenth was killed in clashes at another location.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the synagogue attack on 27 January, but a spokesman for the Islamic movement Hamas said the incidents were linked.
The incidents occurred a few days before US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's scheduled visit to Israel and the West Coast.
The escalation of the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict presents a test for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's new far-right government, which took office with the promise to take a harsh stand amid increased tensions with Palestinians. / REL/
