She said she had received assurances from Interpol President Ahmed Nasser al Reis that Kosovo's potential application for membership the International Criminal Police Organisation will not be in order day during its mandate.
In an Interpol response, however, they have said that the issue of any potential application for membership has not been addressed at that meeting.
“As long as we don't usually comment on the specific content of a bilate meeting, when the membership issue was settled, the president confirmed that INTERPOL is a police organisation and is not involved in political discussions. The president did not address the issue of any possible membership application.”, Interpol's response reported.
In response, every country could reportedly apply for membership in Interpol if it meets the criteria.
Please note that any country can apply for membership in INTERPOL if it meets the requirements specified at Article 4 of the INTERPOL Constitution, which determines the criteria and process to become a member of the body”, says in response to the Office for Printing for 1.info.
Kosovo has applied three times to membership in Interpol, but has not succeeded. The last time in November 2018, only 76 states voted for Kosovo's membership.
