Following the ongoing heavy rainfall and floods in many parts of the country, the Kosovo government has announced it has raised the level of co-ordination and reaction readiness with the aim of responding to the created situation. However, as they report, so far it is only monitoring against the already serious situation.

In the government's recent announcement, the Agency for Emergency Management (AME) reported all acters and has followed the announcement of a rising alert, adding that they are jointly monitoring the created situation.

Our official “authorities are constantly monitoring the situation on the ground”, says this announcement.

The Ministry of Defence, based on the Emergency National Response Plan, is in full readiness to react, depending on the request for support of the Emergency Management Agency. The Kosovo Security Force is available with all capacities to realise the legal duty of military support of our civil authorities and citizens indiscriminately. According to information from the field, all road maintenance companies have been mobilised so that all national and regional roads, as well as vehicles, can be circulated. The MVD companies contracted by the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, throughout the course of working and intervening the most secure flow of vehicles”, it is now said.

Because Kosovo's Hydrometerological Institute has predicted deterioration of the weather in the next day, the government has called on all citizens in the endangered areas to be careful with their moves in the next hour, to avoid crossing the water presence roads, to respect road rules.

It is also known that citizens can make information at the Emergency Operations Centre through the unique (intent) emergency number HINA 112.
