German Embassy: Association deadlock strains Kosovo's KiE application

The United States of America and the key states of the European Union are demanding that Kosovo establish the Association of Serb-run municipalities. So they said in an answer to “KOHA” from Germany's Embassy in Pristina. According to the office representing the German state, it will be difficult to ensure the majority in the Council of Europe if Kosovo continues to reject the establishment of association.
“Germania and partners have consistently stressed that talks on implementation of Association for Serbian municipalities should start right now, aiming at establishing an association, according to the Kosovo-Serbian relevant agreement since 2013, which is fully in line with the limits set by the Constitutional Court. Further blocking of the establishment of association will not make it easier for Kosovo to achieve the necessary majority for its application to become a member of the Council of Europe”, it says in response.
The German Embassy also points out that non-invention of the Association Agreement will negatively affect Kosovo's bid for membership in the European Union instance.
The “It will also pose serious obstacles to the further EU association process”, the German Embassy's response, which has stressed that European states are willing to assist Kosovo in the process of establishing association. “As far as technical details are concerned, especially European partners can provide a lot of expertise when it comes to drawing appropriate legal approaches. Germany will be happy to support and share its experiences in this area if it wants”, they have added further.
