Fined over 30 businesses after products were placed or converted

The Ministry of Industry, Intervention and Trade has announced that the Market Inspectorate on at least 30 occasions has punished markets that have put wrong labels with flags to the origin of products on their shelves. Fines imposed have been from 1,000 to 10,000 euros, and mainly on Serbian products. [...]
“During inspections is confirming that, in some cases, vendors place fraudulent labels with the flag of a state that is not the flag of product origin. In the most frequent cases, the flag tag of the European states is being labeled in products of neighboring countries. In over 30 cases when the Market Inspectorate has found out that vendors haven't put up the label or changed the product's flag label, were punished with fines worth a thousand (11,000) euros to 10,000 euros as a punitive measure”, a ministry report said.
MINT has invited citizens-consumers to be attentive during the acquisitions, and for any consumer rights violations, to continue addressing complaints/notifications at the Market Inspectorate, through the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Industry, Intervention and Trade.
