EU High Representative Josep Borrell said there would be zero tolerance for corruption during his visit to Morocco.
Borrell discussed with Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Achanous and Foreign Minister Nasser Bouritta about the ongoing investigation into corruption charges against members of the European Parliament, which have called for the removal of their parliamentary immunity.
He reiterated the European Union's stance, under which there can be no impunity for corruption.
Waiting for the outcome of the ongoing investigation by judicial authorities, Josep Borrell said full co-operation is expected of all in the investigation.
The European Union's “position is clear: there cannot be impunity for corruption, zero tolerance of it. We should wait for the conclusion of the ongoing investigation by judicial authorities that should clarify these facts and expect the full co-operation of all in the investigation”, he stressed.
