But, otherwise, the prime minister in Montenegro's technical mandate, Dritan Abazovic, who requested more detailed explanation of what is not functioning in the state he (technically) directs.

I don't know what's happening in Montenegro, and I want someone to tell me which part of the system in Montenegro is not functioning”, he said, as Danas quoted.

Asked about the Slovenian foreign minister's statement that Montenegro has become the cancer of early European integration, Abazovic believes its statement is a very strong “”.

You know, people are trying to position themselves politically. There's nothing illegal about”, he said on television “A plus”.

What did Escobar say about the crisis in Montenegro?

“Montenegro is in an institutional collapse that I have hardly seen in another state”, said the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, reports Insander.

Escobar said Montenegro is in a deep institutional crisis and that the US has warned “for many consequences” if Montenegro does not choose the current crises for months.

Montenegro is in a very deep crisis. It's close to an institutional collapse I've never seen anywhere. No government. Two governments have fallen and there has been no progress in forming another. They have no quorum at the Constitutional Court that can confirm the new elections”, Escobar said in an interview for Voice of America, during his visit to Belgrade.

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State recalled that President Milo Djukanovic's mandate expires in the spring. Montenegrin Parliament Speaker Danijela Djurovic has recently announced the 19 March presidential elections.

The “could happen not to have the president believe the mandate, have the government not to move forward and the Constitutional Court adopt all decisions and confirm the election results”, Eskobar stressed.

The U.S. official reiterated that the main task is the immediate completion of the seats at the Constitutional Court, “and then go to the elections”.

They must start with the Constitutional Court. And beyond that, we believe, and polls show that the vast majority of citizens want new elections. And this is where they have to start. ”

Escobar, referring to the Venice Commission's opinion, said any idea that “constitution changes by a simple majority” is very dangerous.

“We have already said that we are not sure it would be a valid constitution government. We are not sure we can rely on the decisions of such a government. We encouraged them not to do this,” finished Escobar.

In late December, the parliamentary majority declared DEMOS leader Miodrag Lekiq, a mandated for the composition of Montenegro's new government, given the controversial amendments to the Law for President, approved earlier by the Parliament, despite the Venice Commission's negative opinion.

US and European Union officials have warned that a government should not be resolved based on those changes. /Insider
