About 10 of the files were discovered in a closed closet at the “Pen Biden” Centre in Washington in November, from the Biden legal team, his lawyer said Tuesday, the BBC reported.
The document group has been handed over to the National Archives.
Beden's predecessor, Donald Trump, is facing an investigation into taking classified files in Florida after his presidency.
According to the American BBC partner, CBS News, the FBI is involved in investigating classified documents found at the “Pen Benden” and the US Attorney General Merrick Garland has been asked to review the documents.
A familiar source of the case told CBS News that the document group contained no nuclear secrets and was placed in a file in a box containing other unclassified documents.
Richard Sauber, special adviser to President Biden, said in a statement to CBS on Monday that files were discovered shortly before the medium-term elections by Beden lawyers who were cleaning up office space. Biden held an office at the think institute, which is several miles from the White House from 2017 to 2020.
The trumpet reacted on Monday to its social media site, “Truth Social”, asking when the FBI would raid the numerous houses of Biden or possibly the White House.
Trump is under investigation for allegedly resisting demands to return about 300 classified documents he received to his Florida property, Mar-a-Lago, after leaving the post.
Beden's files were discovered shortly before the justice department announced it would appoint an independent lawyer to decide whether to prosecute Trump for files found at his golf club.
