British Minister: Immediate to create one-ethnic enclave in Kosovo

Kearns has written that he feels relieved after hearing from representatives of the British government that they do not support the creation of a Serb enclave in Kosovo.

She has added that it is important not to instill ethno-nationalistism in the Balkans.

In her speech, Kearns is heard expressing concern because, according to her, through the Franco-German proposal, the creation of a enclave in Kosovo in the style of “Republika Srpska” is being targeted.

The British Government's representative, Minister for Europe Leon Docherty, has spoken afterward, saying he shares the same concern with MP Kearns regarding association and says it is about creating a one-ethnic enclave in Kosovo.

The same attitude has been held by British Ambassador to Kosovo Nicolas Abbott as he commented on the organisation of the United States of America, where he has been discussed in association.

A welcome discussion today organised by the American ambassador with a fine turnout. Through dialogue, Kosovo has pledged to establish the Association of Serb majority municipalities, and it is up to the parties to agree on the form and timing of its creation. We encourage Government to make progress in both. Such an organ is not only an international commitment, but also offers an opportunity for Kosovo Serbs to be an integral part of Kosovo. Kosovo is a multiethnic country and its municipalities will remain multiethnic”, Abbott has said.
