Biden to appoint diplomat Kostalancik for Albanian ambassador post

US President Joe Biden announced on Monday that he will appoint career diplomat David J. Kostelick, for the post of ambassador of the United States to Albania.
Kostalancik served at the American Embassy in Albania in the early 1990s, in the political office.
David J. Kostalancik currently serves as the Council for Foreign Policy of the U.S. Supreme Chief, General Mark Milley. He served earlier as deputy head of the Mission and for two years, as temporary employee at the US Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.
He has also held the positions of the Director of the Office for Central European Affairs and the Director of the Office for Russian Affairs at the Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs, as well as the Director of the Office of Europe and Asia at the International Bureau for Narcotics and Law Implementation Issues.
Kostalancik served twice at the American Embassy in Moscow.
He has also served in US missions in the OSCE and NATO. He has also served in Ankara, Turkey.
Diplomat Kostelicc, originally from the state of Illinois, graduated from Northwestern University in this state. He also has two master degrees from the National War College, and the University of Michigan. He speaks Russian, Hungarian, Albanian and Turkish.
If his candidacy is approved by the Senate, diplomat Kostelic will replace the current American ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim.
