The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. in Beverly Crest, a luxury neighborhood in Los Angeles.
Sergeant Frank Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department said earlier Saturday that the three people who were killed were inside a vehicle.
Two of the other four victims were sent by private vehicles to hospitals and two others were transported by ambulance, said police spokesman Sgt Bruce Borihanh.
Two were in critical condition and two were in stable condition, Borihanh said.
Age and gender of victims have not been revealed immediately. Investigators were trying to determine whether there was a party at the rented house where events occurred or what kind of gathering was happening, Borihanh said.
He added that police have no information on the suspects.
This is the fourth mass murder in California this month. For the third year in a row, the U.S.A. recorded more than 600 massive shootings in which at least four people were killed or injured, according to the Weapons Violence Archive.
