Kosovo's “Status cannot be challenged because it became independent according to the same model as Croatia”, Albanian minority deputy in the Croatian Assembly said on Monday.
Kosovo's “Republic was created in the process of breakup Yugoslavia, just like the Republic of Croatia”, she said, stressing that according to the 1974 Yugoslav Constitution, Kosovo's “wing was not only part of Serbia, but also the constituent element of the federation”. Later, Slobodan Milosevic stripped Kosovo of his autonomy.
“Kosovo self-government was degraded into administrative units in which a massive police regime and persecution of the Albanian majority” was implemented, she stressed all of this, due to the risk of a disaster and violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law, led to a humanitarian intervention, which is known in international relations and right in the Southeast European area<62>, she said, adding that challenging Kosovo's citizenship would be the same as challenging Greece or modern Bulgaria.
“Just as the 1974 Constitution of Yugoslavia and other legal acts and democratic decision-making of citizens were legal and actual grounds for the independence of the Republic of Croatia, the same model has been applied in the case of independence of the Republic of Kosovo”, it has ended.
Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said today that “Krime will no longer be Ukraine”, saying the international community has already established precedent with Kosovo.
“ (Kosovo) has been kidnapped by Serbia. Kosovo is taken from Serbia, is it? We've known Kosovo, but we've known it. I am behind Kosovo, but after this has been done once (anexually), so without the will of the state (Serbia), which Kosovo has met and this has been Serbia, respectively, Yugoslavia, which for us is not a friendly state and it has not been a matter of concern to them, it has been only a matter of time when Russia or anyone else will do the same, and now it is happening”, Milanic said.
