Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of an energy struggle and has called for more unity in Europe.

“These days, Russia is trying to increase energy pressure on Europe. Gas distribution across Northern Stream has been completely suspended. Russia wants to destroy every European normal life in all countries of our continent”, Zelensky said tonight in a video message.

The goal is to weaken and fear countries in Europe, Zelensky added.

In addition to tanks and missiles, Russia uses energy as weapons. This winter, Russia is preparing a crucial “shock” in the energy sector. Only the biggest cohesion will help in the fight against him, Zelensky said.

Europeans should better coordinate their countermass and help each other more. In addition, pressure on Russia must increase in order to limit Russian revenues from the sale of oil and gas, Zelensky said.

Zelensky accused Russia of an energy struggle after Russian energy company Gazprom failed to restore North Stream gas supplies (Nor Stream) 1 in Germany on Saturday morning, contrary to previous plans. Gazprom justified his move with an alleged oil leak at the Portovaya compressor station near St Petersburg.

Zelensky also condemned the injuries of several children in Chernihiv. He described the incident as unacceptable and promised that those responsible would be punished.
