This announcement came after Russia annexed four Ukrainian regions and asked Kiev's army to stop fighting.
“Trying to annex the Donjock regions, Luhansk, Zaporija and Herson of Ukraine, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin tries to snatch territories that he does not physically control on the ground”.
Nothing changes for Ukraine: we continue to free our land and people and restore our territorial integrity”, said Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on September 30th that Kiev is seeking accelerated Ukraine's NATO membership, following the decision taken by Putin for annexing four Ukrainian regions.
“We have proven our compliance with alliance standards”, Zelensky said in a video distributed by the Ukrainian presidency in social media.
“We are taking decisive step by signing the Ukraine application for accelerated membership in NATO”, he added.
He also said Kiev would not negotiate with Moscow, which sent troops to Ukraine on 24 February, as long as Vladimir Putin is in power.
“We will negotiate with the new president”, Zelensky said.
His statements came after Putin signed decrees for annexing four Ukrainian regions at a ceremony in the Kremlin.
Washington and the European Union have prepared additional sanctions to isolate Russia.
