Truss reiterated “The UK's steadfast support for Ukraine's freedom and democracy, said in a statement issued by Downing Street.
In her first call with a counterpart since becoming prime minister, she reiterated to the Ukrainian leader that he had its full support and Ukraine could count on helping the United Kingdom for a long time.
The leaders discussed the need to strengthen global security and measures needed to cut funds promoting Putin's war machine. The leaders expressed regret over Putin's attempts at “arming” energy, and the prime minister said it was vital that Russia's blackmail did not prevent the West.
It also underlined the importance of the United Kingdom and allies continuing to build energy independence. Zelensky said he congratulated Truss on her new task, saying he felt leaders “would be able to build a deep and productive relationship”.
He added that he extended an invitation to the new British prime minister to visit Ukraine.
