Serbia counts on Turkey's support for continuing talks on resolving continuing disputes with Kosovo, Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Sekalovic said on Friday.
Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina “will lead to a compromise and a mutually acceptable solution and contribute to preserving regional peace and stability”, Sakovic said in a statement after meeting with Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Belgrade.
Serbia and Kosovo agreed last week on a new border policy under a process of dialogue facilitated by the EU.
Selakovic and Cavusoglu also expressed satisfaction with the increasingly intense economic co-operation “between Serbia and Turkey, which has already brought a significant “ ” increase in bilateral trade this year, the statement said.
Relations between Serbia and Turkey “are at the highest level in recent history”, added in the statement.
Cavusoglu has travelled to Belgrade for a two-day official visit to attend the Balkan Open Initiative Summit.
In his speech at the summit earlier in the day, he stressed that Ankara will continue to encourage dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo.
The latest agreement on ID cards shows the credit for focusing on our common interests, rather than on” differences, Cavusoglu said.
Turkey has open communication with both sides. We will continue to encourage dialogue to reach an agreement on vehicle license plates and other issues remaining”, he added.
