Russia tightens punishment for deserters

On 24 September, Putin has signed another law through which it facilitates access to Russian citizenship for foreigners enrolled in the Russian Army.
The new legislation offers “simplification” of the road to receiving Russian citizenship in exchange for one-year military service “in the Russian Federation Armed Forces, in other forces or military formations”.
While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has offered guarantees to Russian soldiers who surrender to Ukrainian forces. He has also urged the Russians to avoid their country's partial military mobilization.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has started on February 24th.
