The Brits love their national anthem. They sing the verses proudly in international soccer games and elsewhere.
Now that Queen Elizabeth II is dead and enthroned, however, King Charles III is also the anthem.
The verses “Sir Save Queen” are the thrilling verses that the anthem has begun with so far. But after ruling a king now, the word “Queen” returns to “Mbrat”.
Lord preserve our gracious Queen! / Hail Our noble Queen / Lord preserve the Queen!”, there have been the first three lines of British national anthem for the last 70 years.
Most Britons do not know the text differently, since they have referred to Queen Elizabeth II during her 70-year reign.
The national anthem fits the British monarch's gender, reports DW, broadcasts Clankosova.tv.
Now, it will be dedicated to King Charles III, which means that the text will be changed to “Lord save the King! ”
Lord save our gracious King! / Hail Our noble King / Lord preserve the King!
