Gorbachev's funeral ceremony will be held Saturday at the Colonial Hall in Moscow, which was historically used for mortal ceremonies by senior officials, including Joseph Stalin in 1953, writes the REL.
After the ceremony, Gorbachev's lifeless body will be buried at the Novodevic cemetery in Moscow, near his wife's grave, Raisa, who died in 1999.
Peskov said there will be <x0 state funeral keys” for Gorbachev, including the Honour Guard. According to him, the mortar ceremony will be organised with the help of the state.
Gorbachev in 1985 took over the leadership of the Soviet Union and was known for his approach to the West.
He had become secretary - general of the Soviet Communist Party and de facto leader of the country at 54 years of age.
