Opposition today is expected to meet Behemman Jasharan

Opposition leaders in the country are due to meet today with SBASK chairman Nundman Jasharaj, after the Kosovo government has blocked the salaries of teachers and civil servants in municipalities on strike from August 25th.

The Express reports that Jasharaj will meet with PDK head Memli Krasniqi and LDK's Lumir Abdjiku.

Officially, there is still no announcement of these meetings.

Otherwise, it is still not known when salaries will be executed for public institution workers, who have been on strike since August 25th.

The Kosovo government has not provided any information. And officials in the Kosovo Treasury say they are awaiting confirmation of the salary lists.

Nysret Koca, deputy director general for accounting, reporting and monitoring in the Kosovo Treasury, has stated that during the day (1 September) he has not accepted any confirmation of lists from budgetary organisations for the execution of salaries.

We're on hold. On August 31st, we accepted confirmation of [some] salary lists and executed”, he said.

Kosovo's treasury annually sends wage lists to budget organisations to confirm any eventual changes.

“This is a regular monthly process, and at the end of the month the list is finalised after it has been confirmed by budgetary organisations through the” system, Koca told REL.

Late in August, teachers in public gardens, civil servants in Kosovo's local and central institutions are on strike because of the heavy economic situation due to increased consumer prices. They require 100 euros a month until the adoption of the Bill for Pays.

The executive, on August 31st, has made partial salary executions for this month.

Salaries for the month of August have been executed for Kosovo Police, justice system employees and ministries.
