Nagavci stressed it is the third consecutive year the second week of September finds students at home.

This happened in the past two years because of the pandemic, which marred the educational and educational process, causing major learning losses. Meanwhile, this year's delay is taking place for reasons that could easily be avoided, resulting in the loss of some 580 thousand classes in 7 days of strike organised by BSPK and SBASK”, Nagavci said.

The minister said the strike in the form of full work cuts and without time limit is an extreme step.

“Greva, in the form of complete work break and with no time limit, is an extreme step that is taken only in extraordinary cases and there is no rationality in the conditions when the government has taken several steps and has made dignified decisions to address requirements submitted by unions”, Nagavci stressed.

The minister said the school calendar was issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, not trade unions, and thus should also hold to teachers, students and parents.

The warning about conditioning further dialogue, as well as about not replacing lost hours, only complicates the situation. In this case, I must remind myself that the school calendar issued by MASTI, not trades, and that the same should adhere to both teachers and students and parents. As minister, an education and civic worker in this country, I request from the SBASK leadership to reflect on the created situation and, along with municipal branch representatives, invite its membership to return to work so that we can create an atmosphere for the continuation of constructive dialogue, which is a prerequisite for resolving complex problems in the education sector”, she added.

In the end, Minister Nagavci said education in the first place is a matter of content and quality, which is a duty to work together and ensure a good future for children.
