Outside apartment number 10 on Downing Street, “Bojo” defended the job done in the direction of the government, while failing to spare the charges against the leader of the conservative party by claiming to change the rules to force him to resign, despite the fact that in the last elections he received the best result in decades.
In front of family members, close friends and collaborators, he offered support to future Prime Minister Liz Trus.
We have and will continue to have that economic force to give people the money they need to overcome this energy crisis caused by Putin's vicious war. And I know Liz Truss and this compassionate conservative government will do everything we can to get people out of this crisis, and this place will afford it and we will win. If Putin thinks he can succeed by blackmailing or molesting the British people, then he is completely wrong”, Johnson said.
After the farewell speech, Johnson flew to Scotland, along with Prime Minister-elect Liz Truss, to meet with Queen Elizabeth to complete the transition of duty.
During the late afternoon, Truss will give a speech to the nation in Downing Street. It is also expected to begin with the formation of its cabinet, with Interior Secretary Priti Patel and Culture Minister Nadine Dorries resigning.
Truss was named leader of the Conservative Party after triumphing with 57 per cent of the vote against rival Rishi Sunak, thereby taking the leadership of the government. Among the first decisions, it has promised to cut taxes and freeze electricity bills as measures to help citizens cope with increased cost of living. / A2 CNN
