Works in the Llogara Tunnel are found in karstic caves over three miles [3 km] open

“We are on the south side where it is being worked or on Dukat's side the tunnel has opened about 2 thousand feet or 2 km linear. And the tunnel has opened on the Palasa side of the tunnel at 1800 feet, totaling 3,700 feet (800 m) of linear. The contract's deadline is 33 months, but our goal is to finish it before this time of”, says Ardino Halimi, a work engineer.

Works on the construction of the Llogara tunnel began in November 2021. According to the construction engineer, the works are moving at a satisfactory pace, while this investment is expected to significantly ease traffic during summer days as well as create more access for all those who choose to rest on the south coast.

The engineer of the work shows the challenges faced during the work, but also the facilities that this investment will bring.

We've encountered a karst cave, which is quite large and has since stabilised. Also, at the same time, the team of engineers and supervisors are working on its final solution. This tunnel facilitates access to the coast and will normally significantly reduce traffic to the neck of Llogora”, says the engineer.

According to local residents, this investment is a work belonging to everyone.

I'm a resident of the area, I've followed the work, and it's a work that belongs to everyone. It is thought that the base of development is tourism, tourism will serve me and everyone. It cuts down a lot. When it comes to the republic it's both Dukat and Radhima, but primarily it's for tourists”, says a Dukat resident.

According to authorities, the Llogora tunnel is one of the most important infrastructure works that will facilitate access to the South Coast, boosting the economic development of the entire area.
