Lajcak: The next two years, unique chance of normalising Kosovo relations- Serbia

The EU's special envoy for dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, Miroslav Lajcak, believes the current political calendar presents a unique chance for the process of normalising relations between Pristina and Belgrade, because, he says, elections are not expected either in Kosovo, Serbia, the EU or the US. This chance, Lajcak says [...]
This chance, Lajcak says it hasn't existed in the last ten years.
“Now we have a unique chance in the political calendar, something that we haven't had for at least ten years, and this is about the fact that by 2024 we have no choice in Serbia or Kosovo, and there is no major election process in Europe, nor in the US”, Lajcak said in an interview for the APA news agency.
We remember that Kosovo and Serbia on August 27th have reached agreement to give up the release of documents for entry and release for citizens of two states, which has started to implement yesterday.
This agreement was reached at the end of last week with EU mediation and also with the involvement of special envoy for the Western Balkans of the United States Gabriel Esobar.
This agreement implies that citizens of Serbia and Kosovo will be able to cross the border with their ID cards, without having to be equipped with an additional entry card.
The Government of Kosovo's decision to license plates was also in force yesterday. This decision consists of reregistering cars that use license plates issued by Serbia.
The period of reregistering cars with license plates issued by Serbia, used in northern Kosovo ( KM, PR, PZ, etc., has started on September 1st and will last until October 31st.
