Lajcak, along with advisers appointed by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, have first stayed in Pristina to travel to Belgrade in the afternoon hours.
In his announcement, Lajcak has not provided much information, but has said meetings are characterised by deep discussions to find options towards progress in dialogue.
“Today, along with senior French presidential councillors and German cavallars, I have held deep discussions with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Aleksandar Vuciq to explore options for progress in dialogue”, Lajcak wrote.
He has said that this process under way will continue the coming days.
Kosovo's prime minister, after the meeting, has announced that Kurti has reiterated his position that the dialogue should benefit both citizens with mutual recognition at the centre.
“Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that the purpose of dialogue, which should benefit both countries' citizens, should be reaching a legally binding agreement with mutual recognition at the centre. He thanked Mr. Lajcak, as well as the advisers Mr. Plötner and Mr. Bonne, of their commitment to the full normalisation of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia”, has been said in the prime minister's announcement.
While, the Serbian president has come up with a harsh attitude and populist messages after the meeting, saying Serbia will not recognise Kosovo's independence.
We talked about Serbia's future... and there will be no recognition of Kosovo. Currently, I am talking to European Union representative for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and advisers from France and Germany, Emmanuel Bonn and Jens Pletner, where I expressed permanent readiness for settlement through compromise, in accordance with the Constitution of Serbia and UN Resolution 1244. No surrender. Thanks to Serbia”, Vuchic wrote.
