On 9 September in Kosovo, the European Union Special Representative for the Kosovo Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak will arrive along with Jens Pletner and Emmanuel Beaune, the two advisers appointed by Germany and France for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
This has been confirmed by European Union spokesman Peter Stano.
“Now I can confirm Miroslav Lajcak's visit on 9 September, along with French President and German Chancellor” foreign policy advisers, Stano told the news.net.
He stressed that the same will visit Pristina, but also Belgrade.
“They will jointly visit Belgrade and Pristina, as well as hold separate meetings with President Vuciq and Prime Minister Kurti.”, Stano added.
According to him, the main goal of this visit is to discuss how to advance Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Despite this very important Friday visit, the European Union has not provided details concerning the upcoming meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, as well as Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq.
Not providing any possible date for the two-party meeting or the next agreements that could be discussed within the dialogue, EU spokesman Peter Stano stressed that in terms of the upcoming meetings the data are published on time.
“We publish any future dialogue meeting based on the case”, he said.
But how much this year will be <x0fatlum” as far as reaching the comprehensive agreement, or the final agreement between the two countries is not yet known.
Even from the European Union, they have sent a message to both sides involved in the dialogue, that reaching the final agreement depends fully and only on the ability of both sides.
When the comprehensive agreement on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia is reached depends fully and only on the ability of both sides to agree to it.”, Stano said.
Unlike exactly in the context of this dialogue, weeks ago Kosovo and Serbia have signed implementation of the agreement on the entry and exit documents.
Thus all Kosovo citizens can now enter Serbia only with ID, without having to get an additional document on the border, the same is the procedure for Serbs who want to enter Kosovo.
This agreement has begun to apply by September 1st, while it is seen as a decision that has facilitated citizens' circulation at the country's border points.
Days ago, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has called on Serbs in Kosovo to change their vehicle plates from “KM, GL, PR” and so on in RKS.
Kosovo Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla declared days earlier that since October 31st, all cars with Serbian illegal license plates will no longer be able to circulate in Kosovo.
As for Lajcak's visit, together with Germany and France's two foreign advisers, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron days ago sent a letter to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Alexander Vuciq.
In this joint letter of Scholz and Macron, which has identical content for both, Vuciq's Kurti is required by the latter two commitment to finding a solution to bilateral and regional bilateral disputes.
This letter is also said to be addressed at a crucial time for security on the European continent and for stability in the Western Balkan region.
We are addressing this letter at a crucial time for security on the European continent and stability in the Western Balkans region. We are convinced that, in light of Russian aggression against Ukraine, we need to make even stronger efforts for the European perspective to become a reality for the states of the Western Balkans and to find solutions to existing bilateral and regional disputes.”, this letter says.
Furthermore, Scholz and Macron say normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia is of strategic importance for the Western Balkans and also underlines calling on the two leaders for maximum readiness for difficult decisions.
These difficult decisions under this letter lead to progress in the dialogue led by the European Union.
For the Western Balkans, the full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is of cruise importance. We are addressing you as the leader of your state, to call on you to show maximum readiness and resolution to make difficult decisions, which lead towards the progress of EU-led dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.”, this letter says.
Also, Scholz and Macron say on paper that tensions have shown that constructive steps are urgently needed on the way forward, and here they announce the commitment of two special followers from the two states that will support the European Union's emissar, Miroslav Lajcak, in his efforts.
Recent “Tensions have shown that constructive steps on the road ahead are urgently needed, at the practical and political level. Therefore, we have been tasking our foreign policy and security advisers, Mr. Jens Plötner and Mr. Emmanuel Bone, to directly support Miroslav Lajčak in his efforts.“, says this letter.
In the end, they have proposed that the two advisers pay a joint visit with Miroslav Lajcak to Kosovo and Serbia to investigate the options for moving forward.
Our “Proposal is, for the Councillors to make a joint visit with Miroslav Lajčak to Kosovo and Serbia, so that they can find options, for the process to move forward quickly. Hopefully, this initiative will have your interest and support. ”, this letter.
It remains to be seen what the epilogue of Lajcak's visit will be, along with the two new advisers appointed to assist the Special Emissar of the European Union.
