The reaction of two institutions dealing with the governance of the courts and prosecutors came after Prime Minister Albin Kurti said prosecutors are not committing a powerful indictment and courts are serving sub-minor sentences against rapists.
“The Judiciary Council and the Prosecutorial Council call on the Government to fulfill constitutional and legal responsibilities for creating the necessary conditions for the shelter and rehabilitation of crime victims, so that crime victims do not remain at the mercy of non-government organisations for housing and rehabilitation”, it is said in the joint response of KDP and KKP.
According to the response, the Judiciary Council and the Prosecutorial Council have reacted responsiblely after reporting on the 11-year rape of five people.
“Note that in this report we behave as responsible, independent and professional institutions and not as some institutions that, through reactions with public statements, do not resemble state institutions”, it is said in response.
In this case, we as competent institutions in full co-ordination with other relevant institutions have undertaken all the actions and measures needed for dealing with the case with professionalism.
The Judiciary Council and the Prosecutorial Council have said they are committed to fulfilling constitutional and legal obligations regarding the case and all other cases without exception.
