The movement served as a powerful protest against the crackdown on women in their country, as political and social unrest continues to involve Iran, Periscopi writes.
While the national anthem was inaugurated before their team's match with Senegal, Iran's players could be seen wearing black jackets covering the coating on their fans.
A small part of the players sang the anthem, though most did not.
It is learned that even the friendly fight has been played by closed doors.
The incredible statement by the players comes fresh after widespread protests in the country, following the death of 22-year-old teacher Mahsa Ammini.
Amen was arrested earlier this month for refusing to wear a hyzab, and her subsequent death in custody has sparked outrage among Iranian countrymen.
