The US accuses Iran of involvement in cyber activities against the United States and its allies.
“Today, the US Treasury Department's Office for Foreign Property Control (OFAC) is appointing Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) and its Intelligence Minister for inclusion in active cyber activities against the United States and its allies. At least since 2007, MOIS and its representatives of cyber actors have conducted malicious cyber operations aimed at a series of government and private sector organisations worldwide and in various sectors of critical infrastructure. In July 2022, cyber threats actors estimated to be sponsored by the Government of Iran and MOIS cut off the Albanian government's computer systems, forcing the government to suspend public services online for its citizens”- reported in the US statement issued.

Undersecretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson, said a statement that when her ally is threatened, the US takes action.
“We will not tolerate Iran's increasingly aggressive cyber activities targeting the United States or our allies and partners” said Undersecretary Nelson.
The move comes after Albania cut diplomatic relations with Iran on Wednesday following a July cyber attack, ordering Iranian diplomats and embassy staff to leave within 24 hours. /ToopChannel/
