Hill speaks for “korise” new dialogue, recognition and association

US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill spoke after Serbia's Parliament hearing, where Serbia's president reported the topic about dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. Hill appeared optimistic that at the end of the dialogue there will be progress and that each side will gain something. Hill again spoke of association by [...]
Hill has again talked about association, saying that there are many models similar to association in Europe, suggesting that Serbia and Kosovo may be special, but their problem is not.
It's likely that Europeans are involved in this, because they know those models very well,” said Hill told Beta Agency.
He stressed that the US fully supports the European Union's efforts to mediate dialogue.
Asked whether Kosovo is ready to implement the agreement on Association, he said that at the end “necessarily there will be some kind of agreement” and that all parties involved know that it should be achieved in such a way that all sides get something.
“After all, we will see progress and reconciliation from all sides,” said Hill.
He stressed that in “the new” dialogue has many old elements and that one of the main issues is what the future of Serbs in Kosovo will be.
The US position, he stressed, is that recognising Kosovo's independence would be good for all, but that dialogue is important at the moment.
“Dialogue must go through some critical points, including the issue of association” The EU's goal is to achieve the full normalisation of relations so that people's lives can continue normally and for the economy and other factors to progress. It is encouraging that even Serbia is thinking about it, the more that a Kosovo session has been held in the Assembly. It is a difficult topic, especially in Serbia. “No one can say this is easy, especially for people here,” said Hill.
