The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Kosovo Business Alliance (AKB) have addressed criticism in the direction of the Government, as they say it is not taking warnings of an energy crisis seriously during the winter. They say the energy problem will multiply during the autumn and winter season, while saying the energy crisis will greatly damage businesses.
For warnings of crisis, they have declined to speak from the ruling party, the Vetevendosje Movement.
From the Democratic Party of Kosovo, MP Ferat Shala declares that Kurti government is not addressing these problems in time.
Shala for Online Economy says the executive has no clear idea of improving the energy sector.
“We don't have a kind of substitute investment in terms of neither maintenance nor short or medium-term planning, we don't already have the much promised strategy, we don't have any legal action to improve legislation, we have no idea how the energy sector will go not only this year, but also next year”, Shala said.
Shala for Online Economy says convinced that the energy crisis in Kosovo will be great.
He expresses surprise at how the Government in this mandate has not undertaken concrete measures for the energy sector.
"In addition to the part of the huge noise this government has made with the issue of buying batteries, which have no impact at least on the medium- and short-term plan in Kosovo means we don't even have a concrete action that they have done, so they're out of the game as far as management is concerned." It is truly sad how a government almost a year and a half before it has filled them has no concrete economic and developmental action to get out of the energy crisis. Definitely yes, I'm sorry, but it's going to be difficult winter with big problems in light and heating issues”.
While Kosovo Business Alliance Chairman Agim Sahini said Kosovo has missed several chances of going through the energy crisis once and for all.
The warning is that there will be difficulties in providing electricity, here again Kosovo is only looking at it as a warning, but not a reality that can happen. Kosovo was able to ease the energy crisis in a few moments: the first when various projects have been given for a new thermal power plant since 2004 and recently with the failure of the deal with Countur-Global”, Sahin said, citing the demands of the countries of the region to take coal from Kosovo.
As for the time Kosovo faced reductions, Sahin says businesses spent over 1m euros a day.
“Businesses in previous reductions that have been, we have had a quick study that spent over 1m euros a day on generators and derivatives”, Sahin said.
