Gerjali: If we are willing to talk to the devil from Serbia, why not to the teachers

The recogniser of economic issues in the country, Safet Gerjaliu, says the economic and social situation in Kosovo is burdened by inflation and energy crisis. As such, Gerjaliu says stopping salaries for teachers and administration workers is unfair. Former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode adds that it is institutional duty [...]
The former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode adds it is institutional duty to support citizens and workers at this time when there are uncontrolled price hikes.
Another concern for him is the lack of public-private dialogue, which he says should be especially at this time of inflation.
The “in the first place needs to be understood that Kosovo is facing many numerous challenges and definitely what is bothering me the most lack of a constructive public-private dialogue. The greatest danger of democracy is arrogance and the distance of power because at this time of inflation, when Kosovo has 19.2 percent inflation, and I believe it is the time when citizens will enjoy the hand of the state, when there should be solidarity, but unfortunately everything in Kosovo is politicised”, Gerxhaliu said.
It is true that the right of strike is guaranteed with the Constitution, but I believe there can be no selective salaries, there can be no such approach that some municipalities will be paid and some will not be paid, and in this direction it takes a calm, dialogue and tolerance, and students to put into schools”, Gerjaliu said.
Given that the local economy consists more than of consumption, Gerjaliu says that stopping these tools is disturbing. He says that this problem should be viewed not only in a financial but emotional way.
I believe that among the main pillars which Kosovo's economy is maintaining is consumption and at this time of inflation, the Kosovo and social economic situation is really disturbing. This problem should not be analysed solely in financial terms because the crisis is here but examined emotionally and psychologically, and this is the biggest problem that this approach is being overlooked. With the fact that education is being violated, it is a sign that in the state that education is violated, the future is at risk and the poverty will be”, he said.
While talking about the strike and the lack of a dialogue between the sides, Gerjaliu says how it is possible to have dialogue with Serbia, not with teachers.
It is the time when, in particular, in certain moments, the reports created between education and institutions raised above the interests of political parties, raised on the interests of power, and were with citizens and with education. Only in this way can we solve it because if we're willing to talk to the devil from Serbia, how can we not be willing to talk to the teachers that if nothing connects us, we speak a language and promote a state”, Gerjaliu said.
