After arriving in the CEC, it is taught that the American ambassador has held a head-to-head meeting with the head of this institution, Iliran Celibashi. Later, the meeting has also joined representatives of political parties -- namely, Damian Gjiknuri from the SP, Jorida Tabaku from the DP, Monica Kryegri, as well as Republican representatives Arjan Greati -- where political parties' financing is being taught in the focus of the conversation.
The meeting at the Central Election Commission comes a day after a senior US official claimed Russia has secretly granted over $300m for political parties and candidates in dozens of countries since 2014, and among them was Albania.
In Albania, Russia granted about half a million dollars to the Democratic Party in 2017 through ghost companies”, the American government's source said.
Former Chairman The DP, Lulzim Basha, denied declaring that the “Democratic Party has never received any foreign financing, much less Russian resources. ”
