Two Resigns Not Enough
Order bodies managed to arrest persons suspected of violating the 11-year-old girl.
Measures and actions have been taken in the Kosovo Police. Senior officials fired: Regional Police Director in Pristina and Director for Operations at Pristina Regional Directorate. And the Director General has tendered his resignation.
Kosovo police are operating police in the Community. They will start very soon in the capital's neighbourhoods, to be later extended to other municipalities in the Republic. Police contacts with the citizen increase crime prevention and freeze quality and speed of services.
In the Kosovo Correcting Service, the director of the Directorate for Treating the Prisoners and the Mitur has resigned as a moral act, since one of the perpetrators has been in detention at correct institutions for certain criminal acts.
But where is the morality of judges and prosecutors?
The unskilled act of prosecutors allows rapists often to be punished. The courts do not judge cases of violations in accordance with the laws in force, which envision sentences of at least 10 years for sexual violence against the person under the age of 14.
Thousands of citizens on Wednesday sought the dismissal of judges who have handed down sentences under the minimum allowed by law for cases of sexual violence, and the dismissal of prosecutors for neglect of these cases.
That same day, Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu met with the chairman of the Kosovo Judiciary Council, the chairman of the Supreme Court and U.d. Chief of State. Accountability in the prosecutorial and judicial system was stressed.
Today is the third day, while KKP's KDP is still silent. No word regarding the actions they will take.
Long time has become selective and uneven, whose heavy burden falls on the shoulders of the victims, mainly women and girls. Disobedience to bullies and even those who are bringing such decisions is unacceptable.
Our society and state cannot bear the cost of labour and without the responsibility of prosecutors and judges.
