Maguire: Our Protection Was Not Straight

Captain still hasn't found the same chemistry as his new partner in defense.

Harry Maguire has acknowledged that he failed to be in the same line as his new partner in defense, Lisndro Martinez, during Manchester United's 2-1 loss against Brighton on Sunday in the first match of the season. The swans have benefited from several defence mistakes that led them to 2-0 by thanking Pascal Gross goals.

United improved the game in the second half and managed to score a goal in the 22nd minute, even though it might be called a suspicious Mac Allister car, as it was suspected of hand touch and foul in the Brighton players.

Brighton never won at Old Tuffford before in the direction of the Red Days was Eric ten Haag, who began his career at the beginning of the season of the loss.

There's one thing we need to address or it'll happen again. The first goal was a big blow to 11 of our players”, Maguire told Sky Sports after the match.

It's nice to have Lisandro Martinez at the club. We race for protection seats. We haven't played much together and in the first period we weren't in the same line of defense. The defenders must have partnerships all the time and we will be better off winning matches without taking a goal”.

Everybody knows their homework. We've had a very bad season. We have a new manager who's trying to apply his philosophy to the team but we don't do it properly then we have a very open defence”.
