Arsenal midfielder Granit Jaka has insisted that he doesn't need the captain's tape, which was removed nearly three years ago, to be a leader within the “Toopcini team”.
Jaka had been captain of Borussia Montengladbach at the age of 22 and was entrusted with this role at Arsenal by Coach Unai Emery after the 2019/20 season.
But just a few weeks later, his notorious response to fans' mockery after being replaced in the match against Crystal Palace caused him to lose the tape.
Since he was determined to leave after that incident, Jaka has revived his career in Arsenal and is convinced that he is still a leader, Kosovas follows.
“Of course, I don't need the captain's tape to lead the team, he told “The Aztec”.
Everyone can see leaders on this team. Of course, you need a captain for the team when we need him. But I don't believe much in the armband. At the moment I have a feeling that there is not only one, but many people who are so good at this team they can talk to and they will help you. That's what makes a big difference right now.”, the Swiss frontist added.
Jaka has also reiterated that coach Mike Arteta is the reason he's stuck in the club.
The truth is why I'm still in this club. The whole club knows why I'm still here because three years ago you decided to leave.
