The Albanian champion went to the final with the best time recorded in the qualifying phase and was the main contender to win the race. He showed this by tracking the pace and taking the lead after the first 100 meters.
No one held the pace of Louise Gega in the race, and Albanian athlete managed to pass the sole finish by breaking the record set in 2010 by Russian Zarpova.
