The G7 countries condemned the invasion of the Zaporizia nuclear power plant by the Russians and called on Moscow to hand over full control to Ukraine immediately.
“Ukrainian staff operating in the facility should be allowed to exercise duties without pressure or threats. If Moscow continues to have control of the entire region's power plant,” is at risk, G7 foreign ministers' declaration said.
The more industrialized states also require the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine's internationally recognised borders and respect for its sovereignty.
At that, International Nuclear Energy Agency chief Rafael Mariano Gross said the bombings at the nuclear facility had violated all seven pillars supporting nuclear security. However, agency experts believe the bombings so far have not caused immediate threats.
Moscow, which accuses Kiev of attacks on the plant, has called for an emergency meeting at the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Zaporizija. The meeting will be held Thursday, New York.
