That's because he's allegedly involved in the scandal known as “Cum-ex”, while Scholz was the head of Hamburg.
The District Court in Koln has issued a warrant for checking his e-mails and documents.
Olaf Scholz, was mayor of Hamburg until 2018 and e-mails and documents to be checked date from January 1st 2015.
He is allegedly enabling a favourable tax evasion worth 47m euros.
The subject of the investigation is his co-party, Social Democrat Party deputy Johannes Kahrs, but other politicians as well.
Prosecutors trying to clear up how the then political class, in November 2016, influenced by a tax fee worth 47m euros at the expense of Warburg Bank, write German media records Klakosova.tv.
Contacted by the media, the German government's spokesman has stated he is unaware of the court's order to control Schelz's e-mails and added that the Chancellor has nothing to hide.
