According to Russian media, its lawyers have said she is asking forgiveness or reduced punishment.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Washington and Moscow are discussing the possibility of exchanging it with Russian prisoners in the United States.
Greener, 31, has been on hold in Russia since police found cannabis oil in her briefcase at Moscow Airport in February.
Greener has admitted to court what he considered to be a genuine error “”.
American President Joe Biden has appointed a negotiator to discuss Greener's case and has said the American administration is working too much” for her release.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said earlier this month that Washington would accept Moscow's bid that this issue of exchange of prisoners be discussed at the presidential level.
American officials have said the proposal includes greener's exchange and Paul Whelan, former member of the US Navy, who has been sentenced to 16 years in prison under spying charges.
Whelan himself denies any wrongdoing.
Media reports suggest the exchange could be done with Russian arms dealer Victor Bout.
