Opposition parties in the Assembly have addressed criticism of Kurti Government for the distribution of resources from Pako's economic recovery. The PDK's AAK says the state cannot function with “aged” but that clear vision of economic development and employment growth is required.
Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MP (AAK), Pal Lekaj, tells Online Economy that Kurti Government has chosen the wrong way, blocking capital investments.
He says the executive has focused on social schemes, which, according to him, are harmful to the development of a state.
“As far as the Government of Kosovo is concerned, I think it has the wrong vision because it wants to benefit from the poor class and withdraw from capital investments that have completely blocked, and according to the report we have where 1/10 of capital investments are in return, which means disaster distribution of public money. This government, I think, has focused on social schemes that are not developmental and damage the development of a country. What you can see is that 100 million euros have been allocated in terms of power subsidies but that six months haven't moved anything, the tools haven't been accessed. KESCO and KEDS, and in this direction I think that money is standing we don't have any development or it's a lie for citizens because they have pledged to subsidise citizens who have spent energy”, Lekaj said.
The AAK MP says such distribution of resources for citizens occurs only in poor countries when there is no development programme.
And on the other hand, we're pushing our lives to citizens with the emotions of basic prices, and especially the derivatives, I think we're in the face of an economic collapse, energy and this government is thinking that only when you see the crisis operating, which is total failure. I think it's only in poor countries that this can happen, and when there's no developmental programmes, capital investments, then I think it's just to maintain the current situation, not to think about developing the state”, Lekaj told EO.
Kosovo Democratic Party deputy (PDK) Bekim Haxhiu agrees. He says the charity state does not function but requires economic development projects.
“The charitable state cannot function is more than obvious, and I believe that the best answer for this is given to economic experts, but what we've seen for more than a year and a half of Kurti Government, no developmental project for the Republic of Kosovo, no project that would promote youth employment, no project that would open up new jobs, and the Government shares charities for citizens from 100 euros that produce no effect on improving the burdened economic but social and economic situation in Kosovo. Most of the budget is being driven by social schemes, but not by the economic development of youth employment”, he said.
