Dries Mertens has rejected Naples's latest offer to extend the contract.
The president of the Aurelio De Laurentis club said the Belgian attacker has rejected a salary of 2.4m euros.
Mertens joined Naples in the summer of 2013 and has since counted 148 goals in the official match, becoming the best goalist in the history of the blue club, yet adventure ended after 9 seasons.
The 35-year-old striker's contract ended this summer and the parties negotiated the renovation for weeks, but it appears that the 2.4m-euro bid is considered low by Mertens, who has decided to close it off permanently with Naples.
