At Ankara's official request, the United Nations Organisation (OKB) changed the country's name from “to “Turkiye” to foreign languages, broadcast Anadolu Agency.
Stephanie Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary General, said they have received a letter from Turkish Foreign Minister Mevluüt Cavusoglu to Secretary General Antonio Guterres to change Turkey's name to foreign languages in “Turkiye”. So the name for foreign language has been added to a “”.
Dujarric said that changing the name of the state has been effective since receiving the letter.
Earlier on Twitter, Minister Cavusoglu wrote: “Process that we started under the leadership of our President Recep Tayip Erdogan to increase the value of our country's brand is coming to an end. With the letter I sent to the UN secretary-general today, we are recording our country's name in foreign languages to the UN as "Tourkiye”.
