Four fans were arrested after a police officer was admitted to the hospital, having knocked unconscious by their blows before the loss of England to Hungary at “Molineux” last night.
The policeman in question, who is a member of the West Midlands Police Football Unit, was taken to the hospital with a head injury after being attacked around 19:25, Kosovo passes.
Four fans, aged 21, 20, 19 and 18, were later arrested nearby on suspicion of assault and remain in custody for questioning.
A West Midlands police statement stated: “It turns out he was approached by a group of fans in a bared area, and was then hit in the head section of”.
He fell unconscious, suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. We are praising the video and cameras in an effort to identify who is responsible”, the police statement said further.
The incident occurred before England's 4:0 domestic defeat of Hungary, while the Gareth Southgate team suffered their worst home loss since 1928 to leave them at the end of the League of Nations.
