Krasniqi: After PDK legal victory, citizens will pay electricity price without rising

Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi at a media conference has welcomed the Appeals Court's decision to prove the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the deadlock of expensive electricity tariffs by the Energy Regulatory Office.

He said that thanks to this PDK legal victory, from now on, around 450 thousand Kosovo families will pay for electricity without raising the price.

Krasniqi, thanking citizens for confidence in the cause of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, said that through yesterday's decision by the Court of Appeals and thanks to the work and engagement of the PDK team, the Saga for expensive energy tariffs is over.

Today, I am very happy that this unfair and unreasonable decision of Government and ZERE has already been confirmed by the Court of Appeals that it has been an illegal decision. For more, the same decision was supported by the president and all the leaves of power. Thanks to the work and commitment of this team, and through yesterday's Court of Appeals decision, the file for new and unfair fees on citizens is over. From this new reality created, we are pleased to have eased the burden of the illegally raised cost of electricity price for about 450 thousand Kosovo families. In this case, first of all, I want to express thanks to every citizen throughout Kosovo who has entrusted our cause and has supported our opposition commitment to prevent this unjust tribute of power over them.”, he said.

Krasniqi stressed that increasing the price of electricity for Kosovo families has been a deliberate and designed solution by the Kurti Government, which through ZRRE, has done so in February, when he made a decision to raise tariffs.

In principle, it is a very bad precedent to have an institution that would have to be independent like the ZRE, has been implemented exclusively of the projections of power, and has done so with full disregard for civic interest and complete coldness. But, the Democratic Party of Kosovo has been opposed to this decision, because it has been an unfair, harmful decision for Kosovo families and citizens, as well as unnecessary, because as we already know, the need for import during February, March and April, has been extremely small and the perceived cost that has been left to citizens, which has to pay through new tariffs, has not existed, because energy needs are almost entirely covered by local production.”, the leader said. Krasniqi criticised the majority in the Kuka and Kurti Government for lack of consideration for the irresistibly cost of electricity that was set for citizens with new tariffs, so The PDK as the opposition leader with its legal teams, in defending public interest and the interest of citizens as consumers has been fully committed to demanding the suspension of the implementation of this ZRRE decision.

Of course, this PDK legal victory, with the support of other opposition parties, to its power and illegal decisions, is not a political victory over power, but a merit victory for citizens' rights in the face of power authority when it is used illegally and at the expense of public interest. This adds our political responsibility and the Democratic Party of Kosovo, as in this case, will continue to stand on the side of citizens against any illegal and unfair decision of power.”, Krasniqi point.
