The British Defence Ministry has provided an update on the field situation in Ukraine this morning.
British intelligence suggests Russia has deployed 22 tactical battalion groups near Izium, in the Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine. “This is an attempt to advance along the northern axis of Donbas”, the ministry stresses.
Despite efforts to break Ukraine's defence and create momentum, Russia will most likely aim to continue beyond Izzyum to capture the cities of Kramatorsk and Severodonestsk”.
That would “consolidate Russian military control in northeastern Donbas”, the Defence Ministry says. /abcnews. al
