The husband of one of the teachers who was left dead as a result of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Joe Garcia died of a heart attack two days after the attack.
Garcia is the husband of the murdered teacher, Irma Garzias, from an 18-year-old armed man at the “Robb” in Uvalde on Tuesday afternoon, The Independent reported on Thursday.
A family member confirmed his death on a Twitter post, saying he “separated from life due to grief”.
The couple had been together since high school and had four children, according to Dallas News.
Irma Garcia worked at Robb elementary school for 23 years when she was killed until she was considered an excellent teacher.
In 2019 she was appointed finalist for the Trinity Prize for Education, which is given to extraordinary teachers in the area of San Antonio, of Trinity University.
As a result of the 18-year-old shooting Tuesday at the “Rob” primary school, 19 students and two fourth grade teachers have remained dead.
